Top 100 Public High Schools

Millburn High School Millers
As 2017 is underway, I thought it might be fun to look back at some of the top Millburn NJ news stories from 2016. One of my favorites was New Jersey Monthly magazine’s ranking of Millburn High School as the #4 high school in its list of the “Top 100 Public High Schools”. Millburn High School moved up 1 position from its #5 ranking in 2014. The article was published in August of 2016.

In 2016, Millburn High School and Livingston High School were two Essex County high schools that ranked in the top 20 schools. Chatham High School was ranked #1 in both 2014 and 2016. The publication uses Department of Education statistics to rate the top public schools in New Jersey. The ranking is done every 2 years. Some changes in the factors used to rank the schools in 2016 included accounting for student participation in visual and performing arts classes. In addition, after consulting with superintendents across the districts, the publication decided not to use data from PARCC tests as it was determined that, “the PARCC data is not yet a reliable metric, since student participation rates varied wildly among districts.”
