Millburn, NJ Papermill Playhouse Showcases Artists with Disabilities Artwork

vsa nj artsBeginning July 28, 2014 and running through August 19, 2014, the Paper Mill Playhouse, located in Millburn, NJ, in partnership with VSA New Jersey, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the creative power of people with disabilities, will be showcasing the artwork of Javier Robles, Matt Tucker, Anthony Zaremba, and Hannah Fanelli. The gallery will be open to the public during normal box office hours and throughout the run of New Voices 2014, Oh What a Night. For more information on VSA New Jersey, visit their website.

Javier Robles, a New Jersey-based photographer and artist, creates artwork and has worked in disability services for greater than 20 years. Robles acquired a C5 spinal cord injury and quadriplegia as a teenager. He currently advocates for others through his Twitter handle @thisabled.

Matt Tucker specializes in fine art photography. His work has been published internationally! Tucker has a rare bone condition called Osteogenesis Imperfecta but he doesn’t let that stop him from pursuing his passion for the arts. Click here to visit his website.

A graduate of the School of Visual Arts, Anthony Zaremba was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1984. Through dedication, determination, and his love of the arts, Zaremba retrained himself to paint with his left hand. Zaremba is featured in Jackie Waldman’s book, “People with MS with the Courage to Give.” He is one of only 24 artists featured in the book. For more information on Anthony, visit his website.

Hannah Fanelli will also be featured at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, NJ. Hannah is a visual artist and a performer who has performed in many Theatre in Motion music videos. These videos are known for using non-traditional casting and showcases artists both with and without disabilities in musical theatre. Fanelli’s visual art has been featured in New York City’s Central Park and throughout New Jersey.

Performances of New Voices of 2014: Oh, What a Night will be held on Friday, Aug. 1, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 2, at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m. Tickets range in price from $25 to $45.
