Kathleen grew up in a creative, artistic family and credits her parents as her first source of inspiration. Kathleen has said, “My father was a talented artist and my mother always allowed me to experiment with ideas and materials. I was lucky to grow up in a family that encouraged creative activities.”

Over the years, Gilsenan’s artwork has been licensed to various companies for use on greeting cards and other products. Putting a smile on her face, and the face of others, is what Kathleen has said is the most joyful part of being an artist.
