Millburn, NJ High School Dancers Performed in Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade

pearl harbor paradeOn December 7, 2014 five Millburn, NJ High School dance students performed in the Pearl Harbor Memorial parade in Hawaii! This was the first time in the history of the parade that a group of dancers or cheer group participated. The performers were Emily Brochin, Molly Berkowitz, Naomi Merlain, Brielle Shapiro and Taylor Turner.

The Millburn, NJ High School student dancers joined others to form one of seven dance groups invited to perform. The dancers performed on two occasions: They danced to Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy at the USS Bowfin Submarine Museum and Park on December 5 and on December 7th they appeared in the Opening Ceremonies of the parade. Arvin Arjona, dance teacher at Millburn, NJ High School choreographed the performance with help from Maddie Warriner, a student teacher.

The group received an American flag that has flown over the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor, as well as two plaques, in recognition of their participation at this historic event.
