Short Hills Street Fair to be Held in Millburn Short Hills, NJ

More than 150 artists, vendors, crafters, and merchants will line Millburn Avenue (which will be closed to traffic) on Sunday, 11/2, from 10-4 pm for the Short Hills Street Fair! The event will take place on Millburn Avenue between Short Hills Avenue and Baltusrol Way in Millburn Short Hills, NJ. Sponsored by the Millburn Shot Hills, NJ Chamber of Commerce, admission and parking for the street fair are free! Investors Bank is the Premier Sponsor of the Event.

The fun-filled day will feature inflatable rides, a petting zoo, pony rides, games, and clowns and jugglers! There will also be an international selection of foods! An outdoor dance party, created by DJ Rob, will begin at 10 am. Live music, by The Fine Line Band, will be featured as well. WDHA-FM and RADIO DISNEY radio stations will be awarding prizes until supplies run out. Six Millburn, NJ High School Students to Perform at Grand Ole Opry

National Associated for Music Education
Six Millburn, NJ High School students will join more than 600 top-performing high school student musicians to perform at a gala concert at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN, on October 29. These students have been chosen as members of the 2014 National Association for Music Education(NAfME) All National Honor Ensembles. Concert bands, symphony orchestras, mixed chorus, and jazz ensembles make up the All-National Honor ensembles.

Congratulations to the following Millburn, NJ High School Students who have been chosen for this disinctive honor: Louis Danowsky – Jazz Ensemble; Ambika Chetal, Olivia Estes, Arielle Kasnetz, Leonard Santos – Mixed Choir and Ellim Kim – Concert Band. Approximately 150 instrumentalists will comprise the concert band, approximately 150 instrumentalists will make up the symphony orchestra, there will be approximately 20 instrumentalists in the jazz ensemble and the mixed chorus will have approximately 350 vocalists. Eligible students have qualified for their state-level honor ensemble program and competed against top students for a spot in these national honor ensembles.

Four of the most renowned conductors in the country: Mark Camphouse, professor of music, conductor, Wind Symphony, George Mason University; Gerard Schwarz, music director, All-Star Orchestra, music director, Eastern Music Festival conductor Laureate, Seattle Symphony; Edith Copley, Regents’ professor, director of choral studies, Northern Arizona University and Robert Baca, professor of music, director of jazz studies, University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire will work with the students for several days and then conduct them on the day of the gala concert.

The Key to Finding Your Home’s Value

The most important thing every seller asks is, “What is my home worth?” There isn’t really a simple answer to that – the value of your home depends on the area, condition, and many other things. So how do you find out how much your home is worth? Use a 5-point pricing strategy to do just that:

1. Understand market conditions: Market conditions have a huge impact on your home’s value. They are often specific to your town and, more often, the specific neighborhood you live in.
2. Know your Zestimate: Zestimates are pretty inaccurate, but if you’re looking to sell your home, you should have an idea of what it is. Buyers will almost surely know how Zillow values your home.
3. Understand your tax assessment: Know your tax assessment and how it fits with other homes on the market that have sold recently. Use it to figure out what it will equate to in the sale of your home.
4. Understand your price band: Check and see how much activity is going on in your price range. What’s the average list-to-sale ratio of homes in your price band? What do their tax assessments look like? Know what has sold in the last year to gain an understanding of how your home compares with those sales. These are known as comparables.
5. Understand active homes in your price band: Go through and see where your house would rank among other active homes in your price bracket. The sum total of all the above knowledge should give you an idea of where your home fits in.

This information can be very difficult to come by on your own. A real estate professional can help you dig up that hard to find information so you can get a good idea of the true value of your home.
